J.
Todd Mansfield, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS received his Doctorate
degree from Rocky Mountain University in April 2005. He earned his
Bachelors degree from Upstate Medical Center in 1984. Todd has been
an orthopedic certified specialist since 1986 and a sports certified
specialist since 2007. Todd is
the founder and director of STPTA
and its various affiliates. The private practice rehabilitation
clinic was established in 1986 with one clinic in Endicott. There
are now two locations serving patients throughout the Southern Tier.
He has over 19 years experience in the field. He is also the
physical therapy services director for
Southern Tier Pain Management Center and a physical
therapy advisor for the Center For Pain
Relief. His previous experience includes working as a
physical therapist for the New Jersey Nets and working as a staff
physical therapist at New York Hospital and The Biofitness Institute
in New York. Todd has received recognition in a number of areas for
his business success and service to his community and Alma Mater, a
few of these achievements include Broome County's "40 Under 40"
award in 2000; Broome Chamber's "Small Business Person of the Year"
in 1999; and a 1997 inductee into the Vestal High School "Hall of
Fame."
Renee
Barkwell-Wilson, PT, OCS, ATRIC is a graduate of SUNY Buffalo
where she received her Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy. Renee's
pre-requisite courses were completed at Broome Community College. Renee
came to work for Southern Tier Physical Therapy in June 1995. She is
certified by the Aquatic Therapy Rehabilitation Industry and is Director
of Southern Tier Physical Therapy's Aquatic
Therapy program, as well as a deep water program at the Boys
and Girls Club in Endicott. Renee is also an Orthopedic Certified
Specialist and is responsible for STPTA's
hand therapy division.
Thomas
Janik, MPS, PT, OCS graduated from SUNY Upstate Medical
University with his Masters degree in Physical Therapy. He also
attended Broome Community College and Hartwick College where he
received his Bachelors degree in Chemistry. He was certified as an
Orthopedic Certified Specialist by the American Board of Physical
Therapy Specialties in June 2005. Tom's prior experience includes
affiliations with Buffalo Children's Hospital, University Hospital
in Syracuse and FF Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua. Tom has
completed Part I-III of the North American Institute of Orthopedic
Manual Therapy Courses.
George McLean, PT received his Master’s degree from Duke University in 1979. He earned his B.A. in history from the Citadel in 1969. After serving in the army, he received his Master’s degree in physical education from Cortland State. While there, while serving as a graduate assistant, he became certified as an athletic trainer. He worked at Cortland, LaFayette and Duke as an athletic trainer. He has taught courses on the core and prevention of athletic figures and the physiology and psychology of sports. He has had 31 years of experience in clinical practice. He founded the Sports Medicine Center at Binghamton General Hospital in 1979. From 1983 to 2010 he was director of Health, Fitness and Rehabilitation Associates, a private physical therapy practice located in Binghamton. His special interests are athletic figures, pre/post op knee rehabilitation, total joint rehabilitation and cervical/lumbar stabilization. His focus is how exercise can prevent injuries and restore normal function post injury.
Matthew McMahon, DPT received his Doctorate degree from Ithaca College in May of 2005. Upon graduation, Matt began his professional career working as a therapist for UHS serving both Wilson and General Hospital. At that time, Matt was introduced to both outpatient and acute cases ranging from short/long term rehabilitation to out-patient services. Since that time, Matt has joined our team at STPTA in June of 2010, where he continues to pursue his passion for orthopedic/sports rehabilitation.

Matthew Myette, PT is a 1984
graduate of Boston University. His focus of practice is manual
therapy complimented with exercise. Matt has received extensive
training in manual therapy with spine and TMJ as a subspecialty. He
has considerable experience working with all athletes. In 1986 he
co-founded STPTA with Todd
Mansfield. In 1987, Matt returned to Boston (his hometown) and
worked at Massachusetts General Hospital a teaching hospital
affiliated with Harvard Medical School. He returned to the
Binghamton area in 1991 and became director of the Oak Street
Binghamton office with Pat Foley. Matt became a co-owner of the
Charles Street office along with Pat Foley and Todd Mansfield in
October 2004. His assistants, Colleen Jayne and John Francis, have
worked with Matt since 1992 and are integral to the treatments he
provides.

Pat Foley, PT brings over
twenty-five years of professional experience to her patient
treatments. She's worked in private practice, in sports medicine
outpatient rehabilitation, and an in-patient hospital setting. After
earning her Bachelor of Science from SUNY Buffalo, Pat worked for
ten years at United Health Services specializing in sports and
orthopedic rehabilitation and back and neck care. After joiningSTPTA in 1992, Pat continued her
practice treating patients suffering from general orthopedic and
spine related issues. Pat founded Women's Therapy Services withinSTPTA to address those issues
that are unique and/or more common to women. Some of these issues
include post-breast cancer treatments, lymphedema, pre- and
post-natal complications, pelvic pain, osteoporosis and fibromyalgia.
Pat has also worked extensively with patients, both women and men,
dealing with urinary and/or fecal incontinence. Pat developed
specialty programs for post-prostatectomy patients. Other specialty
programs have been added to aid patients suffering from multiple
sclerosis or Parkinson's disease. Pat's expertise also includes
craniosacral, advanced strain/counterstrain, manual lymphatic
decongestive techniques and myofascial release techniques. Pat has
continued her education with numerous courses presented by the
McKenzie Institute International, the Upledger Institute and Dr.
Sharon (Weiselfish) Giammatteo of the Center of Integrative Manual
Therapy and Diagnostics, among others. Pat became co-owner of the STPTA Binghamton office in October
2004, along with Matt Myette and Todd Mansfield.

Malia Watson, MSPT earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Physical Therapy from College Misericordia in May 1999. She completed her student clinical instruction under the direction of Matthew Myette, PT and returned to work in the Binghamton office shortly after graduating. She went on to diversify her experience to include the pediatric population. Malia has worked in a number of different settings including home care, preschool and out-patient. Her treatment approach focuses on use of manual handling techniques and facilitation of movement to maximize function and development. She is pleased to return to the Binghamton office where she will have the opportunity to care for both orthopedic and pediatric patients.

Kumari Riegle, PT graduated from the University of Hartford
in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Upon graduation Kumari
worked with children ages 3-5 in a preschool setting and then with children
from birth to 3 years through the Early Intervention Program. She has extensive
experience working with children with developmental disabilities, adaptive
equipment, and aquatic therapy. Kumari has also had experience providing
Physical Therapy services in a nursing home/rehabilitation setting. She began
working at STPT Binghamton in May 2010 where she has expanded her scope of
practice to adult orthopedics with the continued ability to serve the pediatric
population.
